Who We Are |
""Future Farmers of America" (now the National FFA Organization) was founded by a group of young farmers in 1928. Their mission was to prepare future generations for the challenges of feeding a growing population. They taught us that agriculture is more than planting and harvesting - it's a science, it's a business and it's an art." (National FFA Organization)

Our History |
The FFA was founded by Henry Groseclose in 1928 at the American Royal Livestock Show in Kansas City, Mo.. Leslie Applegate of Freehold, N.J., was elected as the first national FFA president. In 1929, national blue and corn gold became the official colors of FFA. A year later, delegates adopted the official FFA Creed and by 1933 the familiar Official Dress of blue corduroy jackets was adopted. The letters “FFA” stand for Future Farmers of America. These letters are a part of our history and our heritage that will never change. But FFA is not just for students who want to be production farmers; FFA also welcomes members who aspire to careers as teachers, doctors, scientists, business owners and more. For this reason, the name of the organization was updated in 1988, to the National FFA Organization, after a vote of national convention delegates to reflect the growing diversity and new opportunities in the industry of agriculture.
The New London FFA Chapter was officially founded on September 25, 1937. Since then, our chapter has been promoting agriculture and leadership. |
